2nd Emerging Technology
1. DIGITAL PHOTO is the technology that I am going to explore with you today.
2.SUMMARY- I have always loved pictures but, when I find out that there were sites that I could go to and upload my pictures so all of my friends could be it. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. SLIDE.com is the digial photo site that I am using. There are many digital photo sites that you can use such picasa, flikr, and slide. I am just going to get into how to use slide today. It can be useful in the class by showing the students picture of their abcs and them being able to tell you the letter as it comes up. It is also useful because the older kids can upload picture to express themselves in the classroom.
3. PERSONAL TESTIMONY-Slide is very user friendly, I hate using technology and I thought that is why self explaintory and that is why good at letting you know what to do and how to do it. I did not even have to learn how to use the slide show. It takes you step by step, which is very nice.
4. HOW IT WORKS- Somewhere on this page I have made my own slide.com slideshow for you guys to look at.
FIRST- You go to slide.com
SECOND- Go to the upload here button
THIRD- Go into a file that you want a photo from ( you can upload up to 50 photos at one time and it only takes about 5 minutes to download all of the completely)
FORTH- go to the middle of the page (where your pictures can be edited) and edit the captions to say whatever you want. If you do not want any caption there is a button on the top right of the edit picture section that says clear my captions and just click that button.
FIFTH- pick a background out like hearts or glitter. They have 20 backgrounds to choose from
5. TIPS- Do not put any picture on here that you would not want others to see and do not picture naughty pictures on slide.com
Podcasting
1. Podcasting is the technology that I am going to explore today.
2. SUMMARY- I have a diagram to the left of the page that explains what podcasting is and how it is use. If I was doing a lecture and I knew that there were a lot of kids who were sick I could use podcasting to make sure that the information got to them. FIRST I would record my lecture while I am giving it to the other students. SECOND I would put it on the web so the students could get the lecture. In the diagram it is explaining podcasting that people subscribe to and then people looking for information that do not subscribe to your podcasts. So my students are my subscribers and people that may not be my students may stumble across this podcast and get some information that they wanted to know about that I was lecturing about.
3. PERSONAL TESTIMONY- I am currently having problems with this technology. I think it is a great technology to have but, I am have a lot of problems with it and my computers memory is low so it would not even let me download the podcast problem. I think after you get the hang of it it is user friendly but, to a person who does not know anything about technology it is a hard thing to learn.
4. HOW IT WORKS - (I have a video uploading on this blog) you may have to search it because I do not know where it is going to land on my blog when I publish this post. It should be below where I am typing. SINCE I cannot work technology I will also explain to you how it works since the blogger just told me my video is not working. You can subscribe to get podcasting on ipodder and itunes (along with many other places but, these are the most popular). FIRST you download the program SECOND you upload you mp3 on to the podcast and every mp3 is compatible with a podcast so you should have no problem with that. THIRD you let the world subscribe.
5. TIPS- do not put personal information on blogs. podcasts generally are in 32k sound quality like AM radio. you can burn podcasts to CD.

Emerging Technology Number 3
Communication and Social Networking
Summary- Social Networking sites such as skype, myspace, facebook, twitter, elgg, xanga, plaxo, linkedin, slideshare, and totspot are places that you communicate with other people that you would not have the oppunitunity to communicate with otherwise.
Personal Testimony- When I was in 9th grade I found out about this site called xanga (it was my first social networking site I had ever been on). It was very easy to use, I figured out how to use it on the first day and I thought it was really cool how you could post blogs and look at other people's sites. As time passed I found Myspace (my love) and xanga fell to the side of the road as I spent all my time on my new found social networking site that allowed me to do so such more then xanga. Last semester I had to make a facebook page for a class and I like facebook but, when I as bored myspace is the place to turn to first. I think that myspace is more user friendly then facebook because I still have not figured out facebook completely and it only took me a week to figure out myspace. Now facebook is more user friendly when it comes to finding your friends, myspace and twitter do a horrible job of helping you find your friends. The other night I wanted to see what twitter was and why everyone was talking about it and I made my page and then I was lost (if anyone knows how to work it and is reading this please comment me and help me out). I think myspace and facebook have been helpful to me in many ways. I have been able to keep intouch with my high school friends and I have been able to get to know all of new friends better. The information that people give on their social networking pages really tell us a lot of the person and a lot of the stuff we figure out help us understand the person on a deeper level. It also has helped me with school. Facebook helped me keep in connect with my teacher and it let me understand my classmates better. When I was in school the teachers would try to make it so that no one would be on any social networking sites but, I believe that will change in the next few years because social networking sites can be brought into the classroom and be used as a good thing. I also think that by the time I am an elementary education teacher that social networking sites like myspace will be intertwined into the curriculum.
How it works- Since I there are so many social networking sites I am going to show you have my favorite social networking site works. Myspace is the most helpful social networking site and it is the biggest social networking site.
FIRST CREATE- When creating a myspace you must fill out the boring username, password, type these letters, real name, first dogs name stuff to get started.
Second GET FRIENDS and COMMENT- YOU have finally created a myspace, NOW FIND YOUR FRIENDS, almost everyone has a myspace so type in one of the friends, if you already now a friends url just type that in if you want and now that you are on a friends site request to be there friend by clicking on the add button. Then want to be accepted. Now that you are friends now you can find your other friends on their myspace. Now that you are getting friends leave them comments by clicking on the add comment button after you are accepted as their friend
THIRD LAYOUT AND MUSIC- We have to make our myspace look pretty for our friend so now go to myspacelayouts and pick a layout you like and put the code in your heros box and save and then go to your profile and see how pretty it looks. Now for the music (my favorite thing about myspace). GO to the music tab and go to search a song and search for you favorite song (It will be there, trust me) and add it to your playlist profile by clicking on add song.
FORTH LOOK AROUND- I have given to the basic run down on myspace and now you can look around myspace and see what else is there to offer.
